Host of the 2006 and 2007 National 24 Hour Championships, the 24@9 is one of the premier endurance mountain bike racing events in the nation.

A custom build of onlinentry was implemented as an alternative to the event's previous online registration solution, active.com. The migration away from active.com avoided active's middleman service fees while the streamlined registration process provided a high degree of ease-of-use for the registrant. A customized database structure and set of backend tools cut administration time, such as number assignment, invalid data error checking, participant duplicate protection, and more.

The main focus of this project has been automation of user tasks. Previously, all user submitted forms required a human to screen, format, and post the data in a hard file. These processes were then automated, greatly expanded, and dynamically displayed, eliminating data input for mbcx.com and reducing maintenance time to relatively nothing. This has allowed the website to expand greatly, which in turn has attracted more visitors and resulted in the first ad-supported profit in the five year history of the website.

Software Designed and Implemented:

- news: Lightweight news management system. WYSIWYG editor, multiple categories, integration with interviews, photos, and events.

- upcoming races: Database of mountain bike and cyclocross events throughout the world. Users may track events in a personal event calendar. Race directors/promoters can list their events and notify users of cancellations or date changes. Archives previous years' results, photos, and racer interviews.

- pictures: Simple user submitted photo gallery and slideshow. Users may submit pictures from events.

- results: Race result archive accepting pdf, txt, and html formats. Submitted html is automatically screened to remove potential security risks.

- interviews: Automated online interviews with event competitors. Users may submit their interview following an event to give others and idea of the event as well as to share their experience.

- racer profiles: Users may maintain an online profile about themselves and their racing / training. Includes photo upload.

- websiteManager: Website backend for supreme control over all user submitted information (events, photos, results, profiles, interviews, etc) as well as general website and server maintenance.

- website design: Site redesigned for the new name and logo (website was formerly mountainbikeRACER.com). Framework was restructured for pages to dynamically including template and coded with emphasis on CSS in order to minimize maintenance time.

Projects In Progress:

- teams: Racing teams will be able to list their team information and roster. Will integrate with racer profiles. Team of the Month feature will be added for mbcx staff.

- revisions: New features added to existing programs on a regular basis.

As the leading sports timing company in the Midwest, White River Sports maintained a website reminiscent of the mid-90's. A clean, modern layout was needed to attract business as well as to provide a functional resource for competitors.

Currently a private venture by roken>design, onlinentry will be an online event registration website designed to compete with existing services while offering an expanded feature set for race promoters and reduced fees to entrants. Possible partnerships with the 24@9, the host for the 2006 24 Hour MTB Nationals, mbcx.com, and wors.org during the initial offering.

Currently, completion target is tentatively set for the end of February 2006.
